Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock
Named one of the 100 Most Beautiful Places in the World by National Geographic, Cannon Beach is a wonderful pit stop along your route to Winchester Bay. There are several sea stacks along the beach, the biggest being Haystack Rock. During low tide you can enjoy a multitude a tide pools containing colorful sea creatures.
Hike Neahkahnie Mountain!
Neahkahnie Mountain makes a great stop for families looking to get out of the car and stretch their legs. Hikers can choose between the more challenging 10 mile trail or the easier 3 mile trail. Both trails will offer you amazing views of the beach below.
There is an old legend that a shipwrecked Spanish galleon carried ashore treasure and buried in on this mountain. Over time the original story has grown more far fetched, even ending up as the subject of “The Tillamook Treasure” a movie from 2006. There has never been any evidence of treasure reported, but that doesn’t stop people from looking!

Things To Do Around Winchester Bay
Umpqua Lighthouse State Park
Situated along Lake Marie, families can visit Umpqua Lighthouse park to enjoy its sandy lakeside beaches, swim, fish, paddle and relax! The park also offers RV campsites to stay at!
The Umpqua River Lighthouse is open for tours May through September. The 65 foot tower is operated by Umpqua Valley Museums.
