Campfire nachos are super simple to make with a delicious payoff, and the best part is how easy they are to share!
You can make this recipe using a cast-iron Dutch oven or a cast-iron skillet over a campfire.
Beyond the cheese and chips, Nachos are completely customizable! You can choose to add any toppings you’d like. If you use fresh ingredients like fresh chilis or onions you should sauté them in their own pan before adding them to your nachos, to ensure they are soft and cooked.
The key to a great plate of nachos is layers! Line a thick layer of chips, add a thick layer of cheese and toppings on top, and repeat. For your last layer, pile on the toppings extra thick.

Directions
Lightly oil the bottom of your skillet or Dutch oven.
Evenly spread 1/3 of your tortilla chips to create your first layer, top with 1/4 can of tomato sauce, 1/4 can of black beans, 1/4 cup of cheese, avocado, green onions, cilantro, and other toppings of your choice.
Repeat
For the third layer, spread the remaining chips evenly, and add toppings. Cover the Dutch oven or skillet with a lid or aluminum foil. *This step is important to melt the cheese and soften chips!
Place on metal grill over your campfire for about 10 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Serve with lime wedges and enjoy your campfire nachos!
