Fossil World Dinosaur Discovery Centre
Visit the Dinosaur Discovery Centre for a hands on learning experience! Check out the 7m full motion animatronic T-Rex as well as their other 10 animatronic dinosaurs, participate in the fossil dig, or mine for minerals!
Royal Tyrrell Museum
The world famous Royal Tyrrell Museum is Canada’s only museum dedicated to paleontology. Learn about Alberta’s pre historic past, view real fossils, life sized mock dinosaurs, and visit the Cretaceous Garden. You can even observe real paleontologists working on fossils in the museums lab and research facility.
Atlas Coal Mine
Atlas Coal Mine Historical Site was an active mining site from 1936-1984, and became a historic site in 1987. They have preserved the last wooden tipple, a coal sorting structure, in Canada. You can explore the mining site alone, or take a guided tour into other parts of the site.
East Coulee School Museum
Today, East Coulee is a bit of a ghost town, but back in the 1940’s its population numbered around 3800. The children of the Atlas and Empire coal miners attended this school, so when the mines closed, the school soon followed. The school reopened as a museum in 1985, and offers visitors a peek into the lives of the people who previously lived in the little mining town.
